Granfondo degli Squali Trek | May 12-14, 2023

For all cycling enthusiasts, the Granfondo degli Squali Trek is an event not to be missed!

The amateur race is coming back to Cattolica on May 12, 13 and 14, 2023 and will take place in two routes through the hills of Romagna and Marche, starting from the Cattolica Aquarium and ending in Gabicce Monte.

Of course, after the race waiting for the athletes will be the maxi refreshment, a grilled blue fish and piadina romagnola.

Two routes to choose from, choose the one that suits you best and put yourself to the test!

• Long route: 128 km, elevation gain of 2,020 m, maximum gradient 14%.

Departure from the Cattolica Aquarium followed by 10 km flat to Gradara and then the first 3 km climb to Pievevecchia. Continue to Santa Maria del Monte and after a descent at the fork you go right, thus choosing the long route.

You arrive at the first challenging climb, that of Monte Altavellio with a gradient of 7-8%. Here you will also find the first refreshment point (we are about km 57).

You continue with a descent and pass the villages of Auditore and Casinina, which are followed at the 10 km slightly downhill. You then come to the San Giorgio climb that leads to Mondaino. You continue through Tavullia, where the second refreshment point is located, until you reach the Panoramica del San Bartolo, then crossing Fiorenzuola and skirting Casteldimezzo.

Last 15 km and you arrive at the final mega refreshment in Gabicce Monte.

• Medium route: 85 km, elevation gain of 1,393 m, maximum gradient 8%.

The start is always from the Cattolica Aquarium and up to Santa Maria del Monte the route is the same. At the fork at the end of the descent, however, one chooses the left and so the medium route. After a couple of kilometres you come to the most important climb of this route, that of Saludecio-Mondaino, 9 kilometres long and with an 8 percent gradient. The descent continues to Tavullia and then to the San Bartolo Panoramica. The last part of the race is the same as the long route and the finish is also always at the final mega refreshment point in Gabicce Monte.
